Senior Technical Artist

We're looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join our team, which collaborates remotely from around the world. Our members range from industry newcomers to experts with 25+ years of experience. Team members come from a diverse set of backgrounds, but share a common passion for building polished player-focused, community-powered games.

 

At Hypixel Studios we are looking for applicants that are demonstrably passionate about their hobbies, have the drive and commitment to deliver results with minimal supervision, have international-level professional competency in their skill sets, and can demonstrate involvement with other interesting projects throughout their lives.

 

As a Senior Technical Artist on the Hytale team, you will collaborate across art disciplines to identify best practices for content creation, develop scripts/tools and automations for artists and animators, and collaborate with the engineering team to develop best practices for our community-facing tools.  You will also use your experience to mentor other tech artists, improve workflows, and empower our creators to push the limits of their creativity.

  • Expert user of Python who can create standalone tools as well as plugins for Blender and other content creation suites
  • A problem solver, driven to discover solutions that benefit our players, Creators, and the Hytale team
  • An excellent communicator: you love providing feedback, sharing and documenting knowledge, mentoring other team members and liaising between art and engineering
  • A positive person who leads by example while contributing to the studio culture with the actions you take on the team

 

Some of your role:

  • Partner with the Art Director and the Art Leads to identify ways to push Hytale’s visuals further
  • Identify engine and art pipeline needs to support all planned content creation
  • Create tools that streamline our asset pipeline from our content creation suite to the engine
  • Work closely with other creative disciplines to ensure our art and animation pipelines efficiently support our visual and experience needs
  • Partner with art management and production to develop execution plans
  • Mentor other tech artists in their craft, delivering feedback to aid in their growth

 

Essential Traits:

  • Portfolio, reel or website demonstrating high quality technical art projects 
  • 5+ years of experience in a Technical Artist role with a focus on tools, scripting and rendering.
  • Experience authoring shaders
  • Advanced understanding of current content creation tools such as Blender, Maya and Photoshop.
  • Experience in overseeing the work of other team members and mentoring and developing junior staff

 

Bonus Traits:

  • C++ experience
  • Experience shipping titles across multiple platforms (PC/Console/Mobile)
  • Rigging and technical animation experience
  • Experience in content creation (modeling, animating, VFX)
